Beautiful Leelanau Summer, Kirks ashes Neah Ta Wanta and Manitou Passage

Beautiful Leelanau County

Beautiful Leelanau County

Fun with the sisters.

We did some touring in Leland.

Then a trip to Fishtown to buy a new hat of course.

Trip to Traverse would not be complete without a trip to the Cherry Pitts.

If you look real close you can see Ted and Deb behind Gale's hat.

Stayed at Cheryl's School House in Suttons Bay. Beautifully brought back to life and has four condos, close to shops, restaurant , beach, and the harbor. Was a lovely place to stay.

Walked to the marina every morning and saw the sunrise, geese, ducks, seagulls were always there to meet me.

We sailed Heathers boat from time to time and when we weren't she was found lounging in the swing hammock.

A little taste of home in the middle of Suttons Bay.

Can not forget the first beer of the day, Cheers!

Lots of fun shops in Suttons Bay. Retail therapy required this time around.

Haley came and visited and we sprinkled Kirks ashes with rose pedals at Neah Ta Wanta.

Trip to Northport Point for a look at Grand Traverse Lighthouse.
The water was so high there was no beach.

Found a small one around the back side new Cat Head Point.

In Suttons Bay as you walked the streets, as I did many times, you ran into rather curious art.

As you left the house and headed down the alley you could check the weather.

A light at the end of the tunnel? In my case it was a train, no light.

A concrete steel inlay of the Great Lakes

Then I would walk by the Old Man in the Tree for a morning kiss.

Geneil came and visited and we toured the lighthouses. Good friends are like taking a warm blanket and wrapping them around you.

Drafty Rafters, our first cabin on Lake Leelanau. 5 kids, 4 kites, 2 Hobies, The Tub, 15 foot wooden puttputt, (we used this with our make shift zip sled, Moms ironing board, perfect size) a Boston Whaler and Boo Boo the El Toro. The adventures we had in this house are too many to think about.

I ran into an old friend and we had lunch at the Cove in Leland. He picked me up in Suttons Bay and we drove to Leland. I did not really notice the car. When we parked a couple kids asked asked if they cold take pictures. I asked Newmie why would they want to take pictures. He said, after a pause, Gale, its a Ferrari. Opps, I told him not if it was a Hinckley I might of noticed.

Then it was off to the Manistee River.
Lucky me I did not end up in the drink. Ted won that award and did not loose anything especially the fishing pole.

I did manage to have lunch at the Tiki Bar on the south end of Lake Leelanau.

Geno and Peg Miller on the Lady.

We sailed out Manitou Passage to North Manitou. Kirks ashes are here too.

Just keep sailing.
Beautiful beam reach out and back again.
